Mark True

Co-Founder, Managing Director, Service Technician and Assistant Instructor Trainer

I set up Morecambe Area Divers Limited with Ian Hunter in the January of 2009. As a child, I was interested in all watersports, for instance water-skiing at 12 years old and then moving on to power boat racing. Scuba diving has always been one of my main hobbies and now I have over 40 years of diving and instructing experience. In addition, I was the regional rep for the Sub Aqua Association (SAA) during the 80s, assisting many clubs in the North West with their training of instructors.

I hold qualifications with many of the world’s major training agencies, including CMAS, BSAC, PADI, ANDI and most recently, SSI. With my guidance, MAD divers has become an SSI centre over the last 12 months, and now many of our instructors are crossing over to SSI. We are now in the process of applying to become an SSI Diamond Training Centre all due to the hard work & dedication of our Dive Centre Instructors

Mohamed Mokhtar aka Curly.

Lead Instructor

I have been working from 2003 in the diving industry around the Red Sea, Dahab with various Dive Centres and qualified with CMAS, and then continued to progress my career with PADI. (Professional Association of Diving Instructors).

From 2005 – 2007 I was a freelancer PADI Divemaster & Instructor on Liveaboards. I also worked for some of the top Dive Centres in Sharm el Sheikh including Camel and Red Sea College during this time.

From 2007 – 2018 I worked at the renowned Ocean College Dive Centre, Red Sea, Sharm el Sheikh.

I enjoy teaching both adults and children, and I have taught over 1342 diving courses from Scuba Diver to Divemaster & EFR, plus more than 1000 Bubblemaker and Discover Scuba Courses (DSD’s). Throughout my diving career I have continued to gain a wealth of diving & teaching experience, as teaching & diving are my passion.

I have been awarded the Elite Instructor award by PADI four times and gained special recognition by PADI Quality Management.

I hope to continue with new ideas and challenges from the experience I gained during my time in the Red Sea and I am ready for my next challenge with Morecambe Area Divers where I hope to make a difference with exciting and unique holidays to the Red Sea diving many additional sites not experienced by most of the UK divers.

As well as continuing to teach with PADI, I am also an SSI (Scuba Schools International) Instructor as I am always looking to gain wider knowledge & experience which I am sure will help to enhance the experience my students gain during dive training. I also teach classified diver programs for students that are less able bodied.

Andrew Deville

Assistant Instructor Trainer & Extended Range Instructor

I began diving because of my son who at the age of 10 decided he wanted to learn how to scuba dive, that was 14 or so years ago first as a PADI Open water diver and then with continued training and development onto Master instructor and IDC staff instructor assisting a number of Course directors around the country. I have mainly dived in the lovely cold water within the UK completing my open water at St Abbs, then on at other sites from Scotland to Cornwall at all the top areas, I’ve also dived abroad in the USA and Caribbean to name but a few. I was also lucky enough to be employed by the 2012 London Olympics authority as a diver. This was due to the reputation of underwater film and photography of the company in London that I taught scuba for. They were approached to install and oversee the in-water cameras used to capture all the aquatic sports and organise a team of safety support divers, we worked around the clock to ensure uninterrupted footage was beamed to your TV. It was an amazing event to be part of and everyone involved took away a fantastic part of history, amongst the obvious highlights of that event for me was racking up deco time in the pool!! It was only 3m deep but I was under for 6 hours and taking Mr J P Getty for a try dive in the dive pool.

I now concentrate on SSI instruction for M.A.D.  and as an assistant Instructor trainer and extended range instructor, I teach all ages all the way up to instructor, if you fancy a challenge give us a call.
